A trio of Cumbrian lawyers has been promoted at Burnetts Solicitors.
Rob Winder, Head of Debt & Property Recovery and Christina Foster, Conveyancing Team Leader have both been promoted to Associate level while employment law Associate Hazel Phillips has been elevated to Senior Associate. All three have been recognised for their extraordinary contribution to the firm.
The decision to promote the three was made during a meeting of the Equity Partners in 2012. The promotions became effective on 1st January 2013.
Senior Partner John Morris said, “Hazel, Christina and Rob are all great lawyers and a genuine asset to Burnetts. Christina and Rob have shown true leadership of their teams over the last year and Hazel’s sustained commitment to delivering initiatives such as monthly legal updates to clients and developing new products was recognised by all of the Partners. Perhaps most importantly, all three are popular with clients, not just because they provide grounded, accessible, expert advice, but because their clients know they will always go the extra mile for them.”
Hazel, Christina and Rob all live in Carlisle. Hazel joined Burnetts in 2006 and was promoted to Associate in 2010. She was recently recognised (for the second year running) as “One to Watch” in Chambers & Partners, the prestigious guide to the legal profession.
Hazel said, “I am very pleased to be recognised. I genuinely enjoy working at Burnetts: the people are nice; it’s a good atmosphere; the work is interesting; and I have great clients I like a lot. For me, the promotion is the icing on the cake.”
A former engineer, born and bred in Cumbria, Rob joined Burnetts' Dispute Resolution department in 2007 and in 2009 he became head of the Debt and Property Recovery team. A qualified legal executive, he is the first non-solicitor ever to be promoted to Associate level.
Law is also a second career for Christina. A qualified teacher from North East England, she once taught English in the Ukraine. She has worked in property law since qualifying as a solicitor. Christina first joined Burnetts in 2007 and become Conveyancing Team Leader in 2010.
All three newly promoted lawyers are based at Burnetts’ Carlisle offices and can be contacted on 01228 552222 or email@example.com
