Sale of Crown Hotel

A specialist team of lawyers from Burnetts has recently advised on the sale of The Crown Hotel, a luxury hotel in the village of Wetheral in Cumbria.

The Crown Hotel, a luxury hotel in the village of Wetheral in Cumbria, has been sold by the Byers family to Variegate Properties Ltd for an undisclosed amount.

A specialist team of lawyers from Burnetts in Carlisle advised the Byers family on the sale: Corporate Partner Michael Walby led the transaction with support from Solicitor Rebecca Davidson and Property Partner Robbie Mather

Following the sale, which completed on 13 November 2017, David Byers said, "Michael Walby and the team at Burnetts did a first class job. Their expertise and dedication ensured that the transaction ran smoothly and completed on time. Michael drove the transaction from day one and his guidance was invaluable."

Michael Walby said, "It was a real pleasure to advise David and his family and we continue to work closely with them on other projects. It is sad to see David ending his long association with the Crown Hotel, but we wish the new owners every success."

Earlier this month Burnetts' Corporate team was top ranked in Cumbria by the prestigious guide to the legal profession, Chambers and Partners and in October Michael Walby was praised by Legal 500 for his "bringing energy and passion to all the work he does”.

Accounting and tax advice for the Byers was provided by NB Lancaster and PWC. The hotel was marketed for sale by Ryan Lynn of Christie and Co. Jonathan Wilde from Wilde Law advised Variegate Properties.
