Workington Lawyer Explains Discipline Best Practice

A West Cumbria law firm will be delivering a programme of practical legal briefings to the area’s entrepreneurs this winter.

A West Cumbria law firm will be delivering a programme of practical legal briefings to the area’s entrepreneurs this winter.

Burnetts, which has offices on Westlakes, will be presenting the first of its sessions at Energus with the aim of helping employers manage the disciplinary process. Discipline & Dismissal takes place from 9.30am to 11.30am on November 13th and is being presented by Workington solicitor Tracy Stainton, who joined the firm in September.

On November 29th, there will be a free lunchtime webinar (a seminar delivered across the internet) for the region’s property magnates focusing on Landlord & Tenant issues. A week later on December 4th Tracy will be back at Energus for a Law @ Lunchtime session, explaining TUPE and the duties of employers when a business is transferred.

Tracy said, “During a recession, it’s even more important that everyone in the organisation is working at the top of their game so business owners often have a lot less patience with under-performers. My first seminar will go through the steps managers and directors need to take in a fair disciplinary situation to ensure that, if a dismissal is the ultimate aim, an Employment Tribunal understands, and agrees with the decision that has been reached.”

Discipline and Dismissal costs £15 + VAT per delegate. Booking is essential.
