Since 2008 Burnetts has been a member of the international association MSI Global Alliance (MSI) which has 250 member firms worldwide.
Burnetts' appointment gives the fast-growing professional services alliance a strong presence in the North that complements the services provided by its law firm members elsewhere in the UK.
James Mendelssohn, MSI's Chief Executive, says: “There was a clear meeting of minds - MSI had been looking for an established regional player in the North for some time, while Burnetts has a growing portfolio of internationally focused clients who require reliable access to trusted lawyers around the world.
“Burnetts was able to meet our stringent membership criteria, including the ability to provide a wide range of commercial services and a commitment to quality and personal service. We are very confident that the clients of our member firms are in excellent hands in the North of England."
Nick Gutteridge, Managing Partner at Burnetts, said, "With specialisms in the education and nuclear sectors, we are handling an increasing volume of international work. We want to ensure we can bring to our clients great service and expertise from around the world and we have a strong empathy with other members of the MSI Global Alliance."
MSI’s UK has six law firm member with a combined force of 500 lawyers, and over 1,200 staff, rivalling the coverage offered by many of the UK’s national law firms. Meanwhile, a strong accountancy membership comprising haysmacintyre in the South and Armstrong Watson in the North of England and Southern Scotland means small to medium sized businesses have access to the full range of professional advisory services on a nationwide basis.
MSI is an international alliance of independent professional firms, with over 250 member firms in 100 countries. MSI was formed in 1990 in response to the growing need for cross-border co-operation between professional services firms.
