Emma is a Solicitor in the Family team, based in Carlisle.
Emma can advice on: the financial and property aspects of divorce; separation of unmarried couples; cases involving children; and pre-nuptial/post-nuptial agreements. Emma has a particular interest in cases involving the family farm and family businesses. Emma also often acts for teachers and employees of the NHS in divorce.
Emma has experience in dealing with a range of children matters including domestic and international relocation and parental alienation.
A former pupil of Caldew School in Dalston, Emma studied at Newcastle University and then went on to achieve a distinction in her postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice at Northumbria University. She joined Burnetts as a trainee solicitor in September 2016 following a number of successful work experience placements within the firm and qualified as a solicitor in September 2018.
Emma is a member of Resolution which is an association of family lawyers who try to resolve cases with the minimum of hostility.
Outside of work, Emma is an active member of Caldbeck Young Farmers and Upper Eden tug of war club. She has previously worked for the Northern Fells Group as a Youth Coordinator, organising activities for local young people, and continues to be involved in the local community.
Emma owns her own flock of pedigree beltex sheep, which she regularly takes to local agricultural shows.
