Georgina Farrer is a solicitor within Burnetts' Dispute Resolution team specialising in commercial litigation. She joined Burnetts as a trainee solicitor in September 2016 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2018.
Georgina’s work involves disputes relating to contracts, construction and shareholders and directors, as well as insolvency matters and professional negligence. Recent cases include acting for an international sports equipment company in a contract dispute worth around one million pounds, a construction claim relating to a half a million-pound property, an asset sale dispute worth more than half a million pounds and a professional negligence claim against solicitors worth over one million pounds.
Georgina prides herself on her local business knowledge and her relationship with clients. As a commercial lawyer, she understands that practical and pragmatic advice must come hand in hand with the legal advice she offers.
Prior to becoming a solicitor, Georgina was a journalist and deputy editor at Living North magazine in Newcastle. She also worked for CN Group, where she was responsible for content in Cumbria Life and Carlisle Living. After four years in journalism, Georgina studied law at Northumbria University, where she achieved Distinctions in both her Graduate Diploma in Law and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and earned the Bond Dickinson Best Performance Award.
Georgina lives in Carlisle and enjoys running (having completed a number of half marathons and a full marathon), cycling and walking in the Lakes.
She is a member of the Shadow Board of Directors of BECBC, and is a Trustee of The Rock Currock Youth Project.
