Jess is a Paralegal in the Medical Negligence and Serious Injury team at Burnetts.
Jess joined Burnetts’ Newcastle office in 2018 as a Practice Support Assistant and was quickly promoted to Paralegal, primarily working in the Court of Protection team.
In her day-to-day job, Jess supports the senior members of the MNSI team, and also provides financial affairs assistance on Court of Protection cases involving both children and adults. In addition, she provides support to the litigation team whilst any claims are ongoing. She helps with the preparation of the Deputy’s Annual Reports and prepares these for the Deputy to review and submit to the court of protection. Jess also liaises with the appointed costs draftsman in order to prepare the annual bills before they are submitted to the senior courts cost office for assessment, which she also manages.
Born and living in South Shields, Jess enjoys travelling and undertaking challenges. In 2017 she trekked the Great Wall of China for Help 4 Heroes: she raised over £2000. When she isn’t travelling Jess enjoys reading, going to the cinema and spending time with her friends and family.
In her last job, Jess worked as a programme enabler at the North East Autism Society. Whilst in this role she helped individuals with ASD and other learning difficulties. She found this to be a very rewarding job, providing her the motivation to go on and train to be a solicitor and help those affected in her area of work.
