Joanne is a solicitor in the family law team
Joanne Grey is a solicitor in Burnetts’ family law team. The former Boots’ manager studied law whilst on a break from her demanding career with the national retailer. Following a further two years as a trainee solicitor with Kirbys Solicitors in Cramlington and with Burnetts, Joanne qualified in 2015.
During her training, Joanne volunteered with the Northumberland charity Legacare which provides legal advice for people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and it was during that time that she made the decision to focus on helping people at times of crisis.
Her role at Burnetts includes supporting clients through divorce, separation and dealing with associated financial matters, as well as advising on family law cases which involve children. She has a number of areas of special interest including assisting people in same sex relationships, those who are looking to protect their property through a nuptial, seperation or cohabitation agreement and clients looking for advice on their options when they’re leaving longer relationships – so-called ‘silver-splitters’. Joanne also deals with cases concerning relocation of children in England, Wales and internationally.
Joanne has raised thousands of pounds for good causes: whilst with Boots, she was one of a team who won a Variety Club Award for services to charity and in 2014, she cycled Coast to Coast, helping to raise funds for a local boy with cerebral palsy. Previously a school governor at Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School, Joanne is now the secretary and trustee of her local Scout group.
As well as her degree in Law from Northumbria University, Joanne has a degree in English which she is putting to good use as one of Burnetts’ blogging team. You can read Joanne’s latest family law blog at www.burnetts.co.uk/blogs .
