Johnny Coulthard

Johnny is a Partner in our Dispute Resolution team, based in Carlisle.

Johnny advises on private client disputes, specialising in contentious probate and inheritance disputes. He is one of the few solicitors in the North East and Cumbria to be a full member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Lawyers and is recognised in the Legal 500 as a Leading Associate for his experience in this area (a directory he has been recognised in for the last six years).

Johnny advises on a wide range of contentious private client work ranging from will disputes, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, claims against executors, partnership disputes and trust claims.

He has particular expertise in advising on contentious high value agricultural estates and dealing with claims that are litigated in the Business and Property division of the High Court.

He is also regularly instructed in financial abuse claims and contributes his time to help Hourglass run its national helpline. Hourglass is the leading national charity working to prevent the abuse of the elderly.

Alongside the above, he also has expertise in acting for schools and Local Authorities in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal.
