Katie is an Associate Solicitor in the Family team, based in Carlisle.
Katie has 20 years experience in advising on all aspects of family law. She has particular experience in advising clients in complex childcare cases, often involving domestic abuse allegations and 'finding of fact' hearings. Katie also frequently represents grandparents and other relatives in applications regarding children, and enjoys dealing with the more challenging cases including applications for permission to take children abroad.
Katie is an accredited specialist with Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers whose aim is to deal with relationship breakdown in a non-confrontational way. Katie's approach can help reduce costs and minimise long-term damage to the relationship between couples, particularly important where there are children. Katie is also a qualified collaborative lawyer and enjoys using collaborative law to achieve the best possible outcome for clients, whilst also avoiding the stress, expense and delay of attending court to resolve financial issues.
Katie qualified in 2001 and joined Burnetts in December 2016.
Outside of work, Katie is an avid gardener and enjoys camping in the Lake District as much as possible.
