Katie is a solicitor in the family team.
Solicitor Katie Wright joined Burnetts’ family law team in December 2016 to help advise clients on divorce, separation and cases involving children.
A graduate from the University of Northumbria, Katie has over 17 years’ experience in family law, but has a particular expertise in resolving difficult arrangements for children following separation, including areas such as Special Guardianship Orders and applications for permission to take children abroad.
Katie also advises clients on the financial aspects of divorce and cohabitation disputes. She is accredited by Resolution, an association of family lawyers whose aim is to deal with relationship breakdown in a non-confrontational way. This approach can help reduce costs and minimise long-term damage to the relationship between couples, particularly important where there are children.
Katie is a trained collaborative lawyer and uses collaborative law alongside other methods of resolving family disputes to achieve the best outcome possible for clients.
Outside of work, Katie is the treasurer and a trustee of Carlisle Child Contact Centre, a neutral venue where children from separated families can enjoy family contact in a comfortable and safe environment.
