Nick Gutteridge is Burnetts' Managing Partner and an experienced Court of Protection Practitioner.
Nick Gutteridge was appointed Managing Partner in 2014. He is also the partner responsible for the Court of Protection team at Burnetts.
As a Court of Protection Deputy, Nick advises vulnerable clients and their families on the management of their financial affairs to ensure that any damages they have been awarded for their injuries are properly managed to the client’s life-long benefit.
Before becoming Managing Partner, Nick was Head of Personal Injury at the Firm - a role now fulfilled by Angela Curran, Head of Medical Negligence and Serious Injury at Burnetts. An experienced litigator who has settled many major, multi-million pound claims, his legal area of expertise is with clients who have sustained catastrophic spinal or brain injuries in accidents on the road, at work or elsewhere, as well as people with work-related illnesses and other injuries. Nick was recognised as an "eminent practitioner" by Chambers & Partners 2017 and continues to be accredited as a specialist by the Spinal Injuries Association.
Originally from Nottingham, Nick studied law at Hull University. Having worked in Hull and Manchester, he joined Burnetts in June 2007.
A keen fell-walker and runner; Nick is married with three teenagers. Nick also has strong ties to Penrith Rugby Club, with his two sons progressing up through the ranks over the years and himself a keen follower of the club. Nick also spends time volunteering as Treasurer for Headway South Cumbria in addition to his Managing Partner role.
