Sarah is a Paralegal in the Wills, Probate & Trusts team.
Sarah Elsy joined Burnetts in 2016 as a receptionist and was promoted as a Paralegal in the Wills, Probate and Trusts department in 2017.
Sarah attended Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith and then studied English Literature at Glasgow University. She began her working life teaching English as a foreign language and then became a secondary school teacher, again teaching English.
Now studying with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, she is working towards completing a Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice.
Sarah’s role involves:
- completing Inheritance Tax forms;
- applying for probate;
- preparing schedules of assets and liabilities;
- administering estates (i.e. closing down and collecting in all the assets and paying all the liabilities, preparing tax returns); and
- distributing estates in accordance with the terms of the will.
Sarah was born in Tonga and grew up in Fiji, Bolivia, Windermere, Penrith. She moved to Carlisle in 2004. In her spare time Sarah follows rugby and enjoys fell walking in the Lake District.
