Senior Associate Sarah Willshire joined Burnetts’ commercial property department in March 2017 and leads the firm’s specialist secured lending team based in Newcastle.

An Oxford graduate, Sarah qualified as a solicitor in September 2006 and has over a decade’s experience in commercial property having worked at both Bond Dickinson and Watson Burton LLP in Newcastle.

Sarah advises clients on the full spectrum of property matters including acquisitions, new leases, lease management and disposals. She has particular expertise in property finance.

Sarah acts for many high-street banks and building societies, working on highly-technical matters such as large investment portfolios, new builds and matters involving overseas borrowers.

She has also advised developers on the purchasing of greenfield and brownfield sites for the development of new housing estates and worked on the purchase of multi-million pound industrial and office sites.

Her knowledge also extends to specialist areas such as the education sector, where she has previously advised the Department for Education and Education Funding Agency on acquiring new sites for schools, and also pensions work (acting for SIPP and SSAS providers).

Outside of work, Sarah is a mum to two young children: her spare time is mostly filled with birthday parties and trips to the soft play area. She is a member of a local gym and swims with her family every weekend.
