We are delighted to invite applications for a 2026 Trainee Solicitor opportunity. We have already successfully appointed Trainees for 2026 and 2027. However, due to business needs, we have an exciting and unique opportunity for another Trainee to join us for a September 2026 start, based in either Cumbria or Newcastle.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking applications from motivated, driven individuals who have already completed their LPC or SQE 1 and 2 exams, and who are ready to take the next step toward qualification.

As a Burnetts Trainee, you will undertake two years of Qualifying Work Experience, completing four six‑month seats. These will be in our Commercial or Private Client teams — or a combination of both — and we always work closely with you to align your seats with your personal interests and career aspirations, where business needs allow.

This additional recruitment reflects our commitment to investing in future talent and giving you certainty and stability as you build your career in law.

What do we offer?

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate with the potential for longer-term career advancement in our forward-thinking law firm, with a well-established client base. Along with this we will provide you with a competitive salary, pension, 30 days holiday and Private Medical Health Insurance; in addition, we will even give you your birthday off every year too!

Our values of Together, Balanced, and Progressive, help to nurture our culture of providing outstanding client service within a caring and supportive environment.
