Legal Assistant – Family (Carlisle)
Burnetts is one of the most progressive law firms in the North of England and have not only achieved awards for being a Great Place to Work® in 2021, 2022 and 2023 but we have also been recognised as a UK wide ‘Best Workplace for Women’ for a medium sized organisation in 2022 and 2023.
We are looking to recruit a Legal Assistant/Administrator to support our Family team based at our Carlisle office.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will join our busy and friendly family team and be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience of office administration, ideally in a legal environment. Whilst this role is not essentially a fee-earning role, there may be aspects of fee-earning expectation within it. We are looking for someone to join us at the start of January 2024.
Knowledge and experience of assisting with family law matters is desirable. Specific training will be provided as necessary on our systems, legal procedures and the relevant law.
The role will include:
- Providing fee earner support
- Liaising with counsel and other legal representatives
- Drafting and preparing court documents as required
- General administrative tasks e.g. typing, copying, scanning, file opening and archiving
- Working with a case management system
The successful candidate should have a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude to enable them to work closely with a team of lawyers and trainees on all aspects of this work. The ability to work as part of a team is therefore essential together with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills. They should also be sensitive to our client’s circumstances at what is usually a difficult time for them.
What do we offer?
This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate with the potential of longer-term career advancement in a forward-thinking law firm with a well-established client base. Along with this we will provide you with a competitive salary, pension, 30 days holiday and Private Medical Health Insurance; in addition, we will even give you your birthday off every year too!
Our values of Togetherness, Balanced, Integrity, Accountable and Progressive, help to engender a culture of providing excellent client service within a caring and supportive internal environment.
