We have an exciting new role of Legal Assistant that we are recruiting for, to support our Commercial Property team in Carlisle on a full-time basis.
Who are we looking for?
An experienced secretary with strong organisational and administrative skills to support the department with specific legal tasks to include (but not limited to):
- Typing transactional documents.
- Lawyer management/diary management and control
- Assisting with proactive billing – sending WIP lists and reminders.
- New file/client ID/opening files/risk assessment/ conflict checks/engagement letters.
- Land Registry – drafting of applications/forms, submitting applications and dealing with requisitions with supervision/support.
- Registration of charges at Companies House.
- Drafting and submitting SDLT returns.
- Post completion – sending documents to the other side, checking Land Registry titles once completed, sending documents to client’s and banks.
The successful candidate will have a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude to enable them to work closely with a team of legal fee-earners, paralegals and legal assistants on all aspects of this work, and may have a fee earning target themselves. The ability to work as part of a team is therefore essential together with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
