We have an exciting new role of Litigation Assistant that we are recruiting for, to support our Dispute Resolution team in Carlisle on a full-time basis.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking to recruit a full time Litigation Assistant to join our specialist Dispute Resolution team who look after the new and ongoing matters for our clients. This role provides specialist support and assistance to the lawyers in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution team with specific tasks such as:
- Fielding client calls (including new enquiries as appropriate) and directing to the relevant member of the team
- Proactive diary management – responsibility for scheduling deadlines (including timely reminders) in the team’s deadline diary, diarising client meetings, and internal team meetings
- File opening and liaising with the Compliance team, to ensure consistency of practice across the team
- Monthly billing – performance of all tasks associated with the generation of invoices on to our system as directed by fee earners and HoD, including printing of time-ledgers for fee earners to review
- Closing and Archiving files in accordance with the Firm’s current archiving policy and procedure
- Credit Control – all email notifications, liaising with fee earners and HoD, chasing clients for payment etc.
- Providing litigation support to fee earners as directed, to include (for example) – the creation of litigation documents, court bundles, bundles for Counsel; preparation of correspondence; liaising with third parties (such as Counsel, clients and courts) about diary management / hearing dates, meetings etc.; dealing with court filing (electronic and paper copy) and serving of documents.
The successful candidate will have a proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude to enable them to work closely with a team of legal fee-earners, paralegals and legal assistants on all aspects of this work, and may have a fee earning target themselves. The ability to work as part of a team is therefore essential together with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills. Due to the nature of the work, the role is predominantly office based.
