Injunctions

An injunction is a court order either making a party do something – or stop doing something.

They are usually applied for to prevent loss or damage – such as when an ex-employee leaves your business and acts in breach of their restrictive covenants causing financial or reputational harm.

Nobody really plans for the situations for which an injunction is needed and as such they are usually sought in fast-moving cases and at short notice.

Our team is used to acting quickly and calmly in these situations to obtain injunctive relief, and protection to business, as soon as possible.

We are equally adept at defending injunctions when there is an application against our clients.

Our team has advised on a broad range of injunctions, including:

  • Stopping winding up petitions
  • Restrictive covenants and non-compete clauses, especially for employers
  • Freezing orders e.g. freezing bank accounts or assets
  • Protecting against harassment
  • Stopping trespass and nuisance
  • Preventing breach of contract
  • Cases involving copyright infringement
  • Restraining the sale of land or property
