Susan is a Partner in our Dispute Resolution Team and specialises in property litigation and construction matters.
She has over 20 years post qualification experience as a solicitor having worked at prominent commercial law firms in Newcastle before moving to Burnetts in 2023. Susan frequently acts for commercial landlords and tenants in relation to business lease renewals, breach of covenant in leases, forfeiture, dilapidations, providing advice and service of notices in leases as well as dealing with residential property matters.
Susan takes a proactive approach to working on cases and she is also an experienced and practiced advocate representing clients at court and tribunal, in mediation, negotiations, arbitration and in adjudication. She also has excellent working relationships with Counsel and other intermediaries and experts alike in the North East and beyond.
In addition, Susan has been noted year on year in the Legal 500 for her property litigation expertise and excellent communication skills.
Prior to her career in law, Susan graduated from Newcastle University in 1986 with a BA Hons in Politics and Social Administration and subsequently obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 1992. She first worked for a national charity as an Administrator and then as a Lecturer in Business and Management at a Further Education College for 12 years which included 2 years working on a European educational project developing training modules for small businesses.
