Our Banking Solicitor Recruitment & Training Programme

As the first recruit to undertake Burnetts’ Banking Solicitor Recruitment and Training Programme, I am delighted to offer my thoughts and opinions on the role… It’s difficult to believe that I have now been in this position for six months! The time has flown by, and I have enjoyed every minute. The Banking team and the wider firm at Burnetts are a fantastic bunch who are extremely welcoming, supportive and friendly. I feel very lucky and privileged to work alongside such amazing colleagues who make coming into work every day a pleasure.

During my time undertaking the Banking Solicitor Recruitment and Training Programme, I have already learned a huge amount and gained quality experience. From my first day with the firm, I have been given the opportunity to get involved in real transactions. I help to progress matters from start to finish and get to assist with all the equally important post-completion tasks. There is always a member of the Banking team who is available to answer any questions I may have, and the knowledge and experience spread throughout the team is clear to see. It’s amazing to work alongside such experienced colleagues who have all contributed massively to my development.

The training programme has been an incredible experience and has led to further opportunities for me. I have formally been offered a training contract with Burnetts which I didn’t think twice about accepting. I am extremely grateful to be given this opportunity, and I cannot wait to continue my development with the firm. I hope that the training contract will lead to me qualifying into the firm’s Banking department, so I can continue working alongside our great team on some extremely interesting matters.

If anyone is interested in applying for the training scheme that we are running again this year, I would say that it is important to focus on your own strengths and skills. I am the perfect example that prior legal work experience is not a necessity to be given the opportunity to undertake this role. Burnetts will give you the opportunity if you can demonstrate that you are a hard-working and down to earth individual. Focus on the experiences that you feel will make you a good fit for the firm, and you’ll have a great chance of becoming the next participant in the banking solicitor training role!
