Our first Banking Solicitor Recruitment and Training Programme recruit
We’re pleased to announce that our Newcastle team has appointed its first recruit via our Banking Solicitor Recruitment and Training Programme, which we ran for the first time this year.
We created the programme to give top legal graduates the opportunity to be trained to work in the banking sector and our first recruit to be appointed through it is 23-year-old Northumbria University graduate Alex Goldthorpe.
Alex trained as a paralegal and says that when he heard about the opportunity, he was keen to apply.
“I was initially attracted to the programme because of the transactional nature of banking law. Before entering the legal industry, it was my goal to achieve something constructive. Banking law is the perfect area to do this as my work helps to benefit both parties, and it can also have positive effects on the wider community. By helping lenders provide funds to their clients, I am playing a key role in driving investment and encouraging growth throughout the UK. The Banking department is an especially close-knit group where each member of the team has a valuable role to play. It is important to me that I am supported by my colleagues and that I feel like I’m making a valuable contribution to the team, so Burnetts catered to both these needs really well.”
Our Partner, Richard Miller, is delighted to have Alex as part of the team and is looking forward to running the programme again in the near future.
“Alex’s enthusiasm and passion, plus his interest in being part of the Banking team made him the perfect choice to be the first graduate on our programme and we will now be looking to run it again and recruit a second person in 2023.”
