Vascular Care
Around four million people are affected by vascular diseases, with diabetic patients being at a higher risk.
Vascular disease affects the veins and arteries by restricting blood flow to the tissue. The veins and arteries may become weakened, damaged or blocked requiring surgical intervention. Complications of vascular disease can be life changing and may not only require general surgery but also amputation of limbs and in the severest of cases can be fatal.
The main causes of vascular disease are; high cholesterol, high blood pressure, lack of exercise, smoking, excessive drinking and obesity. Vascular conditions are wide ranging; however, the most common conditions are as follows:
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) – affecting the arteries in your legs
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Pulmonary Aneurysms (Blood Clots)
- Stroke
- Varicose Veins
