Fantastic results for our solicitors in the prestigious Legal 500 guide…

We are delighted to have been recognised by the Legal 500 guide for our expertise and commitment to high quality service. We are pleased to announce that our Agribusiness, Commercial Property, Commercial Litigation, Corporate and Medical Negligence and Serious Injury departments all achieved top tier rankings.

Our Agribusiness Partners Joanne McKenzie and Richard Miller were both recognised as leading individuals and were praised for their accessibility, knowledge and clear communication style; while their team were hailed as expert and personable. Our Commercial Property team is led by Helen Hayward and Robbie Mather and are quoted as being “technologically ahead of the game” in their response to the pandemic, seamlessly adapting to home-working and continuing to provide outstanding services to clients. Senior associate Rebecca Davidson is recognised as a rising star, whilst property solicitor Ben Crystal is recognised as a key contact.

Our Commercial Litigation team retained their well-deserved top tier ranking for 2022. They are led by practice head and leading individual James Johnston, with Georgina Nicholls heralded as a rising star and property litigation solicitor Rob Winder, who is also listed as a key lawyer within the team. They are praised as “one of, if not the, leading commercial litigation team in Cumbria.” James Johnston is also the practice head of our Contentious Trusts and Probate department which was hailed as a “successful niche within the firm’s broader offering” with senior associate Johnny Coulthard described as a remarkable young man who is “focused, empathetic and hard-working”

Our Corporate team is lead by Vaughan Jones who “looks at proposals from the client’s perspective” and assisted by leading individual Michael Walby who is quoted as “extremely knowledgeable”. The team are hailed as approachable and excellent with good solutions and timescales. Caroline Swift and Becky Brook are listed as key lawyers for the team.

Our Medical Negligence and Serious Injury department have moved to the top tier rankings this year with a fantastic team offering including practice head Spencer Knaggs as a spinal injury expert, Paul Brown as a brain injury specialist, Lynne Hall as a delayed cancer diagnosis specialist and Jayne McCluskey who has a wide range of specialist areas including surgical issues and stroke victims. Duel qualified solicitor and midwife Michelle Armstrong was praised as a next generation partner alongside Spencer Knaggs.

We also had amazing feedback for our other ranked departments including Family with practice head Simon Mortimer listed as a leading individual and Emma Armstrong praised as a key contact with outstanding knowledge of family matters and pensions.
